GLORIA J. STURMAN is a Partner and a member of the Advocacy & Litigation Practice Group of Buckley King LPA. Her practice focuses on insurance defense, employment discrimination, civil rights, ADA, professional liability, personal injury defense, premises liability, construction defect, municipality defense, and healthcare.

Ms. Sturman has:

Tried over 20 cases to verdict in state and federal courts on a variety of matters. 

Represented Clark County since 1992 in a variety of claims from employment to premises liability to professional negligence.

Briefed and argued appeals in state and federal courts including oral arguments before the Nevada Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Successfully tried employment matters to verdicts for the defense and obtained dismissals of  other claims through summary judgment, which were upheld on appeal to the U. S. Court of Appeals for the  Ninth Circuit.

Handled employment matters at the administrative and litigation stage.

Consulted with employers on various pre-litigation and human resources matters.

Obtained dismissal through summary judgment of two separate employment claims by Asian males over the age of 60 who were alleging racial discrimination.  Both dismissals were affirmed by the Ninth Circuit.

Tried several cases to verdict involving professional liability claims including a defense verdict in favor of a real estate broker for an allegedly defectively drafted commercial lease.

Has defended brokers, agents, accounting professionals, design professionals, and allied medical professionals.

Handled legal malpractice claims.

Has extensive experience representing defendants in mediations and arbitrations, including high dollar limit binding arbitration before three judge panels. In addition Ms. Sturman served as the arbitrator in scores of cases through the Court Annexed Mandatory Arbitration Program between 1997 and 2002.  Ms. Sturman  has also been selected by parties to serve as a private binding Arbitrator in a number of cases.  Ms.  Sturman has served as  a Short Trial Judge pro tem since 2005, presiding over a number of jury and non jury trials.  Ms. Sturman was appointed to serve as a Justice of the Peace pro tem by the Clark County Commission.  In that capacity Ms. Sturman has presided over a number of non jury trials, and various other proceedings  in civil and criminal cases.

Representative clients include Clark County, the largest political subdivision in the State of Nevada, Clark County Convention and Visitors Authority, Clark County Health District, and the Regional Transportation Commission in the defense of civil rights, employment, personal injury/tort defense, and contract claims.
